Dear LAYBS Families-

Welcome back to Spring Softball! Our program (and league!) has grown significantly this year and we are excited to get out on the fields with everyone. Please carefully read over the information provided here to ensure that your registration is secured, and you are prepared for evaluations.

FEES: We allowed our families to register and secure a spot in our program via credit card or mailed check. If you have not already paid in full, we are asking all families to please take the time, before Saturday, to log back into your account and complete the payment process for your registered player. If you are opting to pay by check and have not received confirmation that we received the check, you must bring a check to evaluations.

*All players must have payment completed to participate in evaluations and placed on a team.*

HEALTH & SAFETY: As a league and community, we continue to adhere to the health and safety guidelines set forth by our city health department. We will need everyone's help and cooperation to help ensure the health and safety of everyone. A printout of the current guidelines will be available at check-in.

Division placement is determined by our governing body, USA Softball. To ensure well rounded development and for the safety of our players, Los Altos Softball does not typically permit a player to play outside of their age/division.

EVALUATIONS (8U-14U ONLY): The following will highlight some of the key areas we will need everyone to participate in:

- Check in: Players should arrive 20-30 minutes before their assigned evaluation time. Both the player and guardian should be in attendance to confirm the player data that we have on file. Note that we are unable to modify players' scheduled evaluation time due to group size limits.

- Uniforms: Once you check in, proceed to the Uniform Fitting area. Softball has a new uniform vendor and the sizes are different. If time does not allow a fitting before your evaluation, make sure to go before you leave. If an in-person fitting is not done, players will be issued the size given at registration.

- Equipment: Players should dress in full softball practice gear and bring all softball equipment needed to complete the evaluation. For new players this includes a helmet with guard, glove, bat and cleats. We have extra bats on site if needed. All equipment should be labeled with the player's name; the league is not responsible for mixed-up gear.

- Eval Process: The evaluation process consists of multiple on-field stations that will allow coaches to see the player's skill level and strengths. The assessment is used in the draft process to create balanced teams.

- Pitchers & Catchers will have one additional station in the rotation. Players must identify their position and evaluate if they want to be drafted as a pitcher or catcher.

- Select: Players who wish to be considered for the Select team in their division should let the volunteer know at check-in. Saturday's evaluation will be used to evaluate for Rec and Select. To date, there are no separate Select softball evaluations scheduled.

All softball evaluations will be this Saturday, January 15th. Please reference the schedule below for your division, time, and last name.
