LAYBS and our baseball sponsor, Xcel Baseball and Softball are excited to announce the formation of a new partnership designed to advance in the development of our young athletes within the sport of baseball.  With this partnership we are also thrilled to announce a new event which comes open for registration today – “The Xcel Baseball & Softball LAYBS Pre-Season Hitting Clinic” to be held on January 4, 2020.  Click here to register for the Hitting Clinic.  Please click the "Unassigned (1)" tab to add registration to your cart.

This event is designed to help our players prepare for the upcoming evaluation days on 1/11 and 1/18.  At this time, the clinic is being offered for baseball only (the league is currently working on a softball dedicated event in the similar light) and will be conducted via three (3) separate one-hour sessions based upon players’ age.

The details:

  • Date – January 4, 2020
  • Times:
    • 2:00 – 3:00 = 7 to 8 year olds
    • 3:00 – 4:00 = 9 to 10 year olds
    • 4:00 – 5:00 – 11 to 13 year olds
  • Capacity = 50 players per session
  • Cost = $25 per registration
  • The clinic will be led by Rodney Davis, a lifelong baseball man with over 3 decades of experience coaching at the professional, collegiate, high school, amateur and youth levels. He has 20 years scouting and coaching in major league baseball.   He also coached a season of softball at UCLA helping them to a national semi-final appearance at the WCWS.   He played professionally in the LA Dodgers organization and collegiately at Fresno State.
  • Rodney will be assisted by instructors from Xcel Baseball & Softball’s professional hitting coaches and LAYBS volunteers.
  • Objective – to provide our players with hands-on instruction and assistance with their individual swings as they prepare for the upcoming league evaluations days and season.

It is anticipated that all sessions of the clinic will fill up quickly, so please register soon.

Players will be required to bring the following on the day of the clinic:

  • A USA Baseball approved baseball bat
  • Their own batting helmet
  • Running shoes or sneakers (no cleats)
    • **Please be sure that your child’s names are written on all of their equipment.
