Los Altos Baseball Bat Regulations and New 2018 Standards

Hello Los Altos Families,

We are about to kick off our 2017 Fall season and I wanted to let you know that a change in the baseball bat standard is coming.

The following information is for BASEBALL BATS ONLY. Softball is not effected by these changes.

Starting January, 2018, Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken, Pony and Little League will all be standardizing the bats they use. The new bats will have a USA Baseball stamp on them. These bats will replace the current bats that have a 1.15bpf stamp.

The barrel of the bats will be increasing from 2 1/4" to 2 5/8" (some Tee Ball bats and lighter models will still be 2 1/4"). The new bats went on sale September 1st and can be found in stores and online now.

What you need to know for Fall 2017:

If you are playing Fall Ball at Los Altos, we will allow both the outgoing 1.15bpf,  2 1/4" barrel bats AND the new USA Baseball, 2 5/8" barrel bats. Wood bats can also be used at any time. NO OTHER BATS will be allowed for play.

So if you want to buy one of the new bats, or wait until the holidays, the choice is yours.

What you need to know for Spring 2018:

After January 1, 2018 you will not be able to use any 1.15bpf bats. All bats will have to have the USA Baseball stamp.

Babe Ruth Division will be able to use the new USABat or .50 BBCOR bats.
