President’s Message

Spring 2017

Dear Los Altos Family:

I am honored to be the president of Los Altos Youth Baseball and Softball (LAYBS). This season we celebrated our 60th year of proudly served Long Beach and many surrounding communities. Our baseball program is chartered through Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball and our softball program is an ASA/USA fast pitch program. Our fields are located in the beautiful landscape of El Dorado Park, sporting seven fields with exclusive fields for our Tee Ball, Pony Tail and Babe Ruth (13-15) divisions. This season we fielded 28 softball and 44 baseball teams. That is nearly 800 players and over 20 games being played on any given Saturday.

Our mission is to continue the legacy of success that LAYBS has seen serving the East Long Beach community. LAYBS has a proven track record for teaching the fundamentals of baseball and softball while letting a kid be a kid. Los Altos is a non-profit organization that relies on numerous volunteers dedicated to providing kids in the community a chance to play baseball and softball in a positive environment. Our Board of Directors consists of 40 members that meet once a month to ensure that our league maintains its high standards. Our league also is also made up of many more volunteer coaches, team parents and Snack Shack Auxiliary.

This spring, we enjoyed the 4 brand new batting cages installed over the fall. We also replaced the outfield tarps on Fields 1 & 2 and the dugouts of Fields 3 & 4. These new facilities are a tribute to the tireless efforts of our Board both past and present. We continue to strive to maintain the best fields and facilities in Long Beach. We look forward to more upgrades in the coming seasons.

With all this, Los Altos welcomes you to our program. The future is bright for our youth in Long Beach. Nowhere is it brighter than here at Los Altos. Please continue to check our website www.laybs.com and our Facebook page for all current events.

Sincerely,

Derek Carmona

President
